Carlo E. Ottaviani is STMicroelectronics’ Corporate Vice President in charge of Corporate Communication and has held this position since March 2003. He has also served as President of the STMicroelectronics Foundation since its creation in 2001.
Ottaviani began his career in 1965 in Advertising and Public Relations with SIT-Siemens (now Italtel) and soon took over responsibility for the communication activities of the associated semiconductor company ATES Electronic Components. When ATES merged with SGS in 1971, he took charge of Marketing Communications of the newly formed SGS-ATES, a predecessor company to STMicroelectronics. In 1975, Ottaviani was appointed Head of Corporate Communication worldwide, and he maintained this responsibility with the merger of SGS Microelettronica with Thomson Semiconducteurs in 1987.
Ottaviani also heads the STMicroelectronics Foundation, a non-profit organization created by the Corporation to develop, coordinate, and sponsor social projects, includinga worldwide computer literacy program called Digital Unify.
Carlo E. Ottaviani was born in Voghera, Italy, in 1943. He studied Political Science at the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano) and Electronics at Istituto A. Beltrami of Milan.
