With the introduction of the ST21NFCA, STMicroelectronics offers an advanced-technology, system-on-chip solution for both NFC mobile phones and contactless readers for all 13.56 MHz RF applications. By integrating a complete set of firmware, it offers the end user full flexibility to address all configurations. More

STripFET™ DeepGATE™: new low-voltage power MOSFET technology

STripFET™ DeepGATE™ is STMicroelectronics’ new low-voltage power MOSFET technology dedicated to motor control, automation/robotics and telecom/communication applications (DC-DC converters). This unique technology further expands the STripFET™ product portfolio, and is especially tailored to minimize on-state resistance, providing lower conduction losses. The new STD70N10F4 offers the lowest RDS(on) compared to any other ST power MOSFET available in DPAK at 100 V today . More

Save space and costs using the WLCSP package from EEPROM N°1 supplier

Associated with state-of-the-art advanced EEPROM technology, the new wafer level CSP (chip scale package) provides the best innovative solution for low-voltage parameter storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and camera module applications. STMicroelectronics’ WLCSP devices allow entry into tightly spaced applications that were previously not attainable. More

ST7540 power-line modem at the heart of a multi-utility metering system in China

ST’s ST7540 power-line transceiver has been selected by a leading Chinese system integrator (Shenzhen B&G Technology Development) to equip its power-line communication systems that will be massively deployed in the largest ever multi-utility automatic meter reading (AMR) project in China. The overall project will enable China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to remotely collect and manage consumption of water, gas, heat and electricity in more than one million households across China. STM1066 - smart voltage supervisor for logical control of battery charging circuits

ST’s new series of smart voltage supervisors adds intelligence to its existing portfolio of supervisors. The first in the series is the STM1066 which targets portable applications where a lithium battery is recharged via a USB bus. The STM1066 intelligently manages the application’s charging circuits and prevents the charging circuit from destroying the battery chemistry. More

Stereo class D audio power amplifier with selectable 3D effects

The TS4999 from STMicroelectronics is a compact audio power chip that boosts the audio quality of sound. It creates 3D audio effects in the stereo speaker outputs and is intended for mobile phones and other portable audio products. The TS4999 delivers an advanced surround-sound effect from a very small platform in flip-chip package. This solution not only enhances the audio sound, but also provides a high-quality stereo amplifier. More

Evaluation board features multiple-voltage supplies for digital systems

Intended for powering digital applications such as CPUs, FPGAs and memories, the STEVAL-PSQ001V1 evaluation board illustrates the basic principles used for power-supply design and gives you a usable prototype for testing and use. The board, which is easily orderable via distributors, satisfies industrial input requirements and generates several output voltages for mid-range power applications. The complete design information, including schematics, PCB layout and BOM can be freely downloaded. More

EMIF06-mSD02N16: 6-line EMI filter and ESD protection for micro-SD card

The EMIF06-mSD02N16 is a single-chip interface between the controller and the card connector and offers a double ESD protection structure compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 level 4, EMI filters on the 6 lines, pull-resistors and card detection. With a maximum capacitance of 20 pF, the EMIF06-mSD02N16 is compatible with the highest possible clock frequency of 50 MHz. The pull-up resistors at 100 kohm leave the designer free to choose any kind of level shifter. This product can manage mechanical or electrical card detection and can be used with SPI, SD 1-bit or SD 4-bit modes. The new generation of micro-QFN packages with a small width of only 1.2 mm is particularly adapted to mobile phones and other portable devices where PCB space constraints are primordial. More

TS3031-TS3022: rail-to-rail 1.8 V high-speed comparator

TS302x comparators feature high-speed response times with rail-to-rail inputs, and a wide temperature range: -40 °C to +125 °C. Specified from 2 V to 5 V supply voltage, these comparators can also operate at 1.8 V within the 0 °C/+125 °C temperature range. With power consumption as low as a few tens of µA, these comparators provide an excellent power consumption versus response time ratio. Thus, the TS302x family shows a great improvement in performance over the well known LM311 and LM319 devices, as well as offering push-pull outputs and small SMD packages. More

Triple-video buffer filter for SD/HD inputs

The TSH345 and TSH346 are intended for driving analog video signals on 75-ohm video lines in HD and standard-definition video equipment such as set-top boxes, DVD players/recorders and TVs. They both contribute to reducing BOM costs. The TSH345 integrates an input mux, DC shift and filtering for SD, progressive and HD inputs. The TSH346 integrates an HD filter as well as a DC shift, and comes in an SO8 package for space savings. The TSH345 and TSH346 are simple to implement on boards and provide cost savings for large-volume video consumer applications. More

EyeQ2: the Best Electronic Design 2008

The EyeQ2™ vision processor, born from the cooperation between ST and Mobileye, has been selected by Electronic Design magazine as the 'Best Electronic Design 2008' in the automotive category. This multi-core system-on-chip offers a solution for computationally intensive real-time visual recognition and scene interpretation applications. Six times more powerful than the first generation processor EyeQ1, EyeQ2 introduces added functionality, and can simultaneously run multiple applications such as pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning (LDW), adaptive headlight control, traffic-sign recognition, collision avoidance and forward collision warning.
